Ross : It certainly does. 그래
Kate : Your big brother is a very handsome guy. 네 형은 참 잘 생겼더라.
Tim : He sure is. Good looks run in the family. 그럼. 잘 생긴 것은 우리 집안 내력이야.
Kate : You mean you are handsome, too? 그럼 너도 잘 생겼다는 말이니?
Tim : Well, am I not? 내가 잘 생기지 않았니?
eg) Her short temper runs in her family. 그녀의 급한 성격은 유전이야.
Tim : Did you hear that Ross is in the hospital? 로스가 병원에 입원했다는 소식 들었어?
Kate : Yeah. I understand he's having some tests done, but I'm not sure why.
응. 몇가지 검사를 받고 있는 걸로 알고 있는데 왜 그런지는 모르겠어.
Tim : He was having chest pains, and his family has a history of heart problems.
가슴에 통증이 있었는데 심장이 안 좋은 게 집안 내력이래.

* into는 상태가 아닌 동작의 방향과 진행을 나타내는 적극성을 띤 전치사로, 무언가의 속으로 들어가고 있음을 나타낸다... 그러므로 be into something 하면 구어적인 표현으로 [...에 흥미를 갖게 되다], [...에 빠져들다]라는 의미...
* be into something = (spoken) to like and be interested in something
* get hooked on = to enjoy something very much and you want to do it as often as possible
Kate : I heard that Tim went to a snowboard camp last winter.
팀이 지난 겨울에 스노우보드 캠프에 갔었다고 들었어.
Ross : Yeah, that's true. He really loves snowboarding.
그래 맞아. 그 친구는 정말 스노우보드 타는 걸 좋아하지.
Kate : I used to love snowboarding, too. I just don't have the time anymore.
나도 전에는 보드타기를 아주 좋아했는데 지금은 시간이 없어서 말이야.
Ross : You have to make time for the things that you like doing.
시간을 내서 하고 싶은 걸 하며 살아야지.
Kate : That's easier said than done. I'm a terribly occupied woman.

Ross : Look, Tim did it and he is busy, too. he got into snowboarding.

Ross : What do you do on weekends? 주말에 뭐하니?
Tim : I'm into tennis now. 테니스를 즐겨.
Ross : Are you? I'll bet you are going to get hooked on tennis pretty soon.
그래? 머지않아 테니스에 미치게 될 거야.
Tim : What happened last night? Why didn't you log onto the Internet?
어젯밤에 어떻게 된 거야? 왜 인터넷에 접속 안했어?
Kate : Oh, I'm sorry. I just forgot to join chatting with you guys.
아, 미안. 채팅하기로 한 걸 깜박 잊어버렸네.
Tim : You just forgot? What were you doing? 잊어버렸다구? 뭐하느라고?
Kate : Well, I know it's stupid. But I am really into a soap opera.
사실은, 바보 같이 들리겠지만 어떤 연속극에 푹 빠져버렸어.
Tim : Is it the soap everyone's been talking about since last week?
지난주부터 다들 이야기하는 그 연속극 말야?
Kate : Yeah, it's amazing. You can't stop watching it once you start.
응, 진짜 대단해. 한번 보기 시작하면 안 볼 수가 없다니까.
Tim : I didn't know that Mariah is into pets. 마리아가 애완동물에 푹 빠져 있는지 몰랐어.
Ross : Are you kidding me? She's got three dogs and two cats.
정말 몰랐단 말야? 강아지 3마리와 고양이 2마리를 기르잖아.
Tim : I guess one more pet for her birthday won't hurt.
그럼 마리아의 생일선물로 한 마리를 더 줘도 괜찮겠네.

요즘 난 영화보는 것보다 책 읽는 것에 더 관심이 있어.

I feel like goofing off today
* goof off 는 [일 안하고 시간만 축내다]라는 의미로 우리말로 하면 [땡땡이친다]에 근접한 표현...
* goof off = (informal) to waste time or avoid doing any work
* play hookey = (informal) to stay away from school without permission
Ross : I feel like goofing off today. 나 오늘 땡땡이 좀 치고 싶어.
Tim : Do you want to play hookey? 회사를 빼먹겠단 거야?
Ross : That's exactly what I want. 그렇지.
Tim : I'll phone the office and tell them that we're working from home today.
사무실에 전화해서 오늘 집에서 일한다고 말할게.
Father : Are you studying or goofing off doing nothing now?
공부하는 거야 아니면 아무것도 안하고 빈둥거리는 거야?
Son : Sorry, Dad. I'll study. 미안해요 아빠. 공부할게요.
Ross : I'm playing hookey this afternoon. 오늘 오후에 땡땡이 칠 거야.
Tim : Hey, bite the bullet, or you will flunk the course again.
이봐, 참아, 그러다가 또 낙제할라.
* bite the bullet 은 [불쾌한 것을 견디다(accept something unpleasant)]라는 뜻...

eg) Enough goofing off. Back to work. 빈둥거리는 건 이제 됐어. 다시 일하자.
I'm nobody's fool
* nobody's fool 은 남에게 [속아넘어가지 않는](cannot be tricked) 사람이라는 의미... 요즘 바가지 요금을 당하거나, 부당한 서비스 대우를 받을 때가 종종 있죠.. 그럴 때 쓰면 좋겠네요..
* be nobody's fool = to be difficult to trick or deceive, because you have a lot of experience and knowledge about something
Tim : I'm nobody's fool. 날 물로 보나봐.
Ross : Why did you say that? 왜 그런 말을 하니?
Tim : They're trying to make me pay for a service that I don't want.
내가 원하지도 않는 서비스에 돈을 지불하게 하려고 하잖아.
Ross : I hate when companies do that. 회사들이 그럴 땐 정말 싫더라.
eg) Tim was nobody's fool when it came to English.
팀은 영어에 관해서라면 누구에게도 속지 않았어.

* (spoken) used to tell someone you think is deceiving you that you are not stupid enough to believe them

일부터 하고 그 다음 보수를 의논해 봅시다.
B : Come on, I wasn't born yesterday. 이봐요, 내가 그렇게 어리석은 바보인 줄 아시오?
eg) Do you see any green in my eyes? I wasn't born yesterday.
내가 그렇게 어수룩한 줄 알아? 난 속지 않아.
eg) Do you think I was born yesterday? 내가 그렇게 어리석은 줄 아시오?
eg) Do you think I don't even know the time of day? 내가 그렇게 세상 물정을 모르는 줄 아시오?
