It's a blessing in disguise
* blessing in disguise = something that seems to be bad or unlucky at first, but which you later realize is good or luck
Tim : I didn't get the promotion at work. 승진에서 떨어졌어.
Ross : Well, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
그럼. 아마 오히려 잘 되려고 그런지도 몰라.
Tim : What do you mean? 무슨 소리야?
Ross : Maybe you will find an even better job soon.
곧 훨씬 좋은 일자리를 찾게 될지도 모르잖아.
Mariah : I'm sorry to hear that your husband lost his job. 남편이 실직했다니 안됐어요.
Kate : Actually, it was a blessing in disguise, because he likes his new job much better.
실은 오히려 잘된 일이에요. 남편이 새로 하는 일을 훨씬 맘에 들어하거든요.
eg) If he broke up with you for someone else, don't automatically blame her.
만약 그가 다른 여자 때문에 당신과 헤어진다면 그녀를 무작정 비난하지 말아.

전화위복이 될 수 있고, 세상엔 반은 남자잖아.
That's hard to swallow
* 이 표현을 직역하면 [그건 삼키기 힘들다]라는 뜻이지만 이 표현은 먹지 못할 음식을 두고 하는 말이 아니라 믿지 못할 이야기를 두고 하는 말이다. 이때 swallow는 [남의 말을 의심 없이 그대로 받아들이다]라는 의미...
* hard to swallow = difficult to believe
Tim : Guess what? I've got a date with a model! 있잖아, 나 모델이랑 데이트했다.
Kate : Really? That's hard to swallow. 정말? 그건 믿기 힘든 걸.
Tim : I'm serious. I'm telling the truth. 정말이야. 사실이라고.
Kate : Sorry, but I just can't believe you. 미안하지만 네 말은 정말 못 믿겠다.
eg) I find those old superstitions hard to swallow. 난 그 오래된 미신들이 믿기 힘들다는 것을 안다.
Could I have seconds?
* 보통 식탁에서 한 그릇 뚝딱 한 다음에 더 먹어도 되냐고 묻고 싶을 때 사용하는 표현...
* seconds = (informal) another serving of the same food after you have eaten your first serving
Kate : This salad is really delicious. Suppose I can have some more?
이 샐러드 정말 맛있어요. 좀 더 먹어도 돼나요?
Tim : Sure. That's only your second helping of salad. 물론. 두 그릇째 밖에 아니잖아.
eg) How about a second helping of rice? 밥 좀 더 드시죠.
Tim : This pop was delicious. 이 음료수 맛있는데.
Jay : How about seconds? 한잔 더 할래요?
eg) Does anyone want seconds? 더 드실 사람 있나요?
She's not in the same league with me
* be in a different league from/not be in the same league as = to be much better, or much worse, than someone or something else
eg) I'm not in the same league with you. 난 너랑 노는 물이 달라.
eg) You are way out of my league. 당신은 나와 부류가 너무 달라요.
* 위에서 way는 away에서 두음소실(頭音消失)현상이 일어난 것으로 의미는 부사나 전치사를 강조하여 [훨씬][멀리]라는 의미... 위 문장에서도 out of 라는 부사를 강조하여 [훨씬 떨어져 있는]이라는 의미...
eg) We are from different classes. 수준이 안 맞는다고요!
I'm not really an outdoor person
* outdoor type = a person who enjoys camping, walking in the countryside etc
Tim : Ross, what are you doing moping around inside? You're on vacation, now!
로스, 왜 집 안에서 빈둥거리고 있는거야? 너 휴가라며?
Ross : I'm not really an outdoor person. Did you have fun on your trip?
난 밖에서 노는 거 별로 안 좋아해. 여행은 잘 다녀왔냐?
Tim : Of course. Hey, let's meet right now. 물론이지. 야, 잠깐 만나자.
Ross : Where's Tim going on vacation this summer? 이번 여름에 팀은 어디로 휴가가니?
Kate : He said he was going fishing in Northern Canada. 캐나다 북부로 낙시하러 간다고 했어.
Ross : He's quite the outdoorsman. He really likes to hunt and fish.
그 사람은 확실히 야외 체질이야. 사냥이랑 낚시를 아주 좋아하잖아.
