Could you keep it quiet?
* keep quiet = to not say anything, because you don't know anything or because you don't want to tell a secret
* be quiet = used to tell someone, rather rudely, to stop talking or making noise
Ross : Can you turn the radio down, please? It's too noisy.
라디오 소리 좀 줄여줄래? 너무 시끄러워.
Kate : Oh, I thought that you liked this song. 어, 니가 이 노래 좋아하는 줄 알았어.
Ross : I do, but please keep it quiet. I'm working now.
좋아해. 하지만 좀 조용히 해줘. 지금은 일하는 중이야.
Kate : I'm sorry about that. 미안해
Tim : Wow, Kate! You are dressed to kill! What's up?
우와, 케이트! 정말 끝내주게 입었는데! 무슨 일이야?
Do you have a hot date or something? Wow, you look different.
근사한 데이트라도 있는 거야? 우와, 진짜 달라 보이네.
Kate : Keep quiet, Tim. Everyone's looking at us. 조용히 좀 해, 팀. 다들 우릴 쳐다보잖아.
Mom : Kids! Could you keep it down? This is a very important phone call.
얘들아! 너희들 가만히 좀 있을래? 이건 매우 중요한 전화야.
Kids : But we want to play! 하지만 우린 놀고 싶어요!
Mom : If you don't keep quiet, no Lotte World this weekend, got it?
만약 조용히 하지 않으면, 이번 주말에 롯데월드는 없어, 알았니?
Kids : Got it. We'll be quiet as the dead. 알았어요. 우린 쥐죽은듯이 조용히 있을게요.
Let's split the bill
* 식당에서 계산할 때 [금액을 나누어 내자]는 의미...
* split the bill = to divide something into separate parts so that two or more people each get a part
* go halves = to share something, especially the cost of something, equally between two people
* go Dutch = to share the cost of a meal in a restaurant
* go fifty-fifty = share the cost of of something equally
Ross : That meal was delicious. 음식 정말 맛있었어.
Mariah : Well, I guess it's time to pay. Let's split the bill.
그럼, 이제 ㄱㅖ산해야지. 똑같이 나눠 내자.
Ross : What? You mean that you aren't gonna buy my lunch?
뭐라고? 그럼 점심을 안 사주겠단 말이야?
Mariah : No way! You make more money than me. Let's split the bill.
무슨 소리야! 니가 나보다 돈 많이 벌잖아. 나눠 내자.
Ross : Why don't we split the bill? 나눠서 내자.
Tim : OK, let's go halves. 좋아. 반반씩 내자.
Kate : I'd like to take you out to dinner. 저녁을 대접하고 싶은데요.
Tim : I'd like to go, but I insist we go Dutch. 그래. 그러나 비용은 각자 내기로 하자.
Tim : Let's just go fifty-fifty on the dinner check. 저녁값은 반반씩 내도록 하자.
Ross : That's not really fair to you because I ate a lot more.
내가 많이 먹었으니까 공평하지 않아.
eg) It's fair to split the cost of the bills. 청구금액을 나눠서 내는 것은 공평해.
eg) Do you want to go halves on a pizza? 피자값 반반씩 낼까?
Don't tell me what to do!
Tim : Take this report to the post office and then buy me a newspaper.
이 보고서를 우체국으로 갖다주고 신문 한 장 사와라.
Ross : Don't tell me what to do! 이래라 저래라 하지마.
Ross : You should not waste money on a vacation. You should put it in the bank.
휴가 때 돈을 낭비하지마. 은행에 저금해.
Mariah : Hey, don't tell me what to do! I'll spend my money any way I like.

* 형용사로서의 close도 많은 의미를 지니고 있지만, 그 중에서 [관계가 가까운]이라는 의미...
* close to + 사람
Ross : Are you gonna Tim's birthday party on Saturday? 토요일 팀의 생일 파티에 갈거니?
Mariah : I don't know yet. I'm still thinking. 모르겠어. 아직 생각 중이야.
Ross : You've gotta go. Otherwise, I'm not going either. 너 가야 돼. 너 안가면 나도 안 갈거야.
Mariah : Why do you say that? You're quite close to Tim, but I'm kind of..., you know.
왜 그래? 넌 팀이랑 꽤 친하잖아. 하지만 난 좀, 알잖아.
Ross : Yeah, I know what you're saying. That's why you have to go.
그래 무슨 말인지 알아. 그래서 네가 꼭 가야 한다는 거야.

이번 기회에 둘 사이의 미묘한 냉기를 좀 없애봐.
Mariah : Well, I hope so. I don't want to be uncomfortable with anyone at work.
그럼 좋지. 난 회사의 어느 누구와도 불편한 관계는 싫어.

그날 저녁은 어느 때보다 더 카렌에게 친근함을 느꼈다.

What a wordy man!
Tim : All these dishes look so tasty. 음식이 모두 다 너무 맛있어 보인다.
Ross : Look at that beautiful sushi. It looks like a rainbow. 저기 초밥 좀 봐. 무지개처럼 예쁜데.
Tim : Oh, I just can't wait till the best man finishes that boring toast.
신랑 친구가 저 지루한 축사를 빨리 좀 끝내면 좋겠다.
Ross : Me too. What a wordy man! 나도. 저 친구 진짜 말 많네.
Tim : Oh oh, thanks god. He's gonna finish the toast soon, isn't he?
야, 다행이다. 곧 끝낼 거 같지?
Ross : Yeah, why don't we dig in as soon as he finishes?
응, 축사가 끝나자마자 우리 맛있게 먹자.
Tim : Definitely. 물론이지.
* 위 대화 중에 [땅을 파다]라는 의미의 dig 를 전치사 in 과 함께 사용하면 푸짐하게 차린 음식을 수저로 파들어 가듯이 맛있게 먹는 것을 가리킨다...
