* 앞에서 언급한 것을 다시 한번 반복할 때 흔히 작은 따옴표 두개를 찍어서 나타냅니다. 그 표시를 영어로 ditto 라고 합니다.
* (spoken) used to say that something is the same as something else, or that you think the same as someone else
Ross : Are you guys gonna the brunch at the Chosun Hotel this Sunday?
너희들 이번 일요일에 조선 호텔에서 있는 브런치에 갈거야?
Kate : Sure, I'm going. 그럼 물론이지, 난 갈거야.
Tim : Ditto. 나도
Ross : Both of you are going? Well, I've gotta go then. 둘 다 갈거야? 그럼 나도 가야겠네.
Kate : Why? Do you have any other plan this Sunday? 왜? 일요일에 무슨 다른 계획이라도 있어?
Tim : All of us are advised to go. 우리 다 가는 게 좋아.
It's a big chance to get to know important people in this company.
회사의 중요한 인물들과 친해질 수 있는 좋은 기회잖아.
* brunch 는 breakfast+lunch의 합성어로 [아침 겸 점심]을 뜻합니다.
Ross : I'm absolutely fed up with this job. 이 일이 정말 지겨워 죽겠어.
Karen : Ditto. 나도 그래.
He is not in at the moment
* at the moment = (formal) used to say that something is happening or true now
Ross : I was supposed to call Mr.Ahn yesterday, but I was out of town.
어제 전화하기로 되어 있었는데, 제가 출장 중이었어요.
Karen : I'm sorry, but he is not in at the moment. 죄송합니다만, 지금 안 계시거든요.
Ross : Oh. Can I leave a message then? 네. 그럼 메세지를 남겨도 될까요?
Karen : Of course, sir. From whom shall I say the message is?
물론입니다. 누구로부터 온 메세지라고 전해드릴까요
Ross : Could you please tell him that Ross called? 로스에게 전화왔었다고 전해주시겠어요?
eg) Kate is on holiday in Paris at the moment. 케이트는 지금 파리에서 휴가중이야.

Ross : How does Tim like living in Vietnam? 팀은 베트남에서 잘 지내니?
Kate : Oh, I got a call from him yesterday. I think he's doing great.
아, 어제 전화왔었어. 잘 지내는 것 같던데.
Ross : Glad to hear that. 다행이다.
Kate : So am I. I think he made up his mind to turn over a new leaf in Vietnam.
나도 그렇게 생각해. 내가 보기엔 베트남에서 새 삶을 시작하려고 마음먹은 것 같아.
Ross : Wow. That's the greatest thing I've ever heard. 야. 듣던 중 반가운 말이네.
Kate : You know, he's turning 30 in May. Time to grow up.
알다시피 이제 5월이면 서른살이 되는데. 좀 어른스러워져야지.
* turn over a new leaf 는 마음을 고쳐먹고 새 삶을 시작하려고 할 때 쓰는 표현...
He is such a fitness freak
* fitness freak = (informal) someone who is so interested in fitness that other people think they are strange or unusual
* nut = (informal) someone who is very interested in golf etc
Kate : I'm coming back from gym and you know what? 금방 체육관에서 왔는데 그거 아니?
Ross was there before I got there and he is still there working out.
로스는 내가 체육관에 있기 전부터 거기 있었고, 여전히 거기서 운동하고 있어.
Mariah : Yeah, I know. He is such a fitness freak. 나도 알아. 로스는 운동광이라는까.
Kate : And the funniest thing is that he has company.
그리고 더 재미있는 건 같이 운동하는 사람이 있다는 거야.
Mariah : What's so funny about that? 그게 뭐가 재밌어?
Kate : It's his father who's been working out with him more than 3 hours.
3시간 넘게 같이 운동하는 사람이 제이슨의 아버지야.
And he must be sixty something. 아마도 예순은 더 되셨을걸.
Mariah : Wow, Like father like son. 와, 부전자전이네.
eg) My husband is not a health nut. 우리 남편은 건강에 별로 신경을 쓰는 사람이 아냐.
eg) She is a Clark Gable nut. 그녀는 클라크 게이블 광팬이야.
I turn into such a loser in front of her
* loser 는 말 그대로 [실패자]인데, 미국 사람들은 상대방에게 이 단어를 들으면 엄청 불쾌해 하니까 조심해서 사용해야할 단어...
Tim : Did you get a chance to talk to Mariah today? 오늘 마리아한테 얘기해 봤어?
Ross : Unfortunately no. 불행히도 못했어.
Tim : When are you going to tell her? It's only a week before the party.
언제 말할거야? 이제 파티까지 일주일밖에 안 남았는데.
Ross : Today, I was so close but I chickened out at the last minute.
오늘 거의 할 뻔했는데 마지막 순간에 너무 겁을 먹어서 못했어.
Tim : Don't be so timid. She may want to go to the party with you.
그렇게 소심해 하지마. 마리아도 너랑 함께 파티에 가는 걸 원할지도 모르잖어.
Ross : Do you really think so? I don't know. I turn into such a loser in front of her.
정말 그럴까? 모르겠어. 마리아 앞에만 가면 난 바보가 돼.
* 미국사람들은 chicken 을 겁 많고 나약한 동물의 대명사로 생각한다...
Kate : Check out Ross over in the corner with that girl.
저 구석에 여자랑 같이 있는 로스 봐봐.
Mariah : He's such a loser. He's hitting on every girl that walks by.
엄청 껄떡대. 지나가는 여자마다 추근대잖아.
