Tim : Hey, you lied to me yesterday. 이봐. 너 어제 나한테 거짓말 했지?
Ross : I'm sorry. But I didn't mean to offend you.
미안해. 기분 상하게 할 생각은 아니었어.
I meant... I just played a trick on you. 나는 그저... 장난을 좀 친거야.
Tim : That's ok. No offense! 알았어. 기분상하지는 않았어.
eg) I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. please forgive me.
미안해요. 마음을 상하게 할 생각은 없었어요. 용서해줘요.
eg) I'm sorry. Have I done something to offend you? 죄송합니다. 제가 마음을 상하게 했나요?
Don't chicken out
* checken out = to decide at the last moment not to do something you said you would do because you are afraid
* get/have cold feet = (informal) to suddenly feel that you are not brave enough to do something you planned to do
Ross : I want out. 난 빠질래.
Tim : Don't chicken out. You are the one who came up with this idea in the first place.

Ross : There's a pretty young lady. Don't blew it. 저기 이쁜 여자 있지? 실수하지마라.
Jay : I chicken out. 겁먹어서 그만둘래.
Tim : Come on, Ross, don't be such a chicken. If you like her, you've got to tell her.
이봐, 로스, 겁쟁이처럼 그러지 좀 마. 좋아한다면 그녀에게 고백해!
Ross : But I don't have the guts to ask her out. I'd totally die if she turned me down.
하지만 그녀에게 데이트 신청할 용기가 없어. 그녀가 거절이라도 하면 난 아마 죽어버릴 거야.

사람들 앞에서 이야기를 할 때면 난 보통 겁을 먹는다.

그녀와 결혼하는 걸 겁먹은 건 아니겠지, 그렇지?

Tim : Which way are you headed, Mariah? Could I give you a ride?
어느 방향으로 가니, 마리아? 내가 태워다 줄까?
Mariah : Well, if it's on your way, I'd appreciate a ride to Seonam Church.
네, 가는 도중이시라면, 서남교회까지 태워다 주시면 고맙겠습니다.
Tim : Sure. Hop in. I don't usually go that route. but I've got plenty of time.
좋아. 얼른 타. 보통 그쪽으로 가진 않지만, 시간이 충분해.
* hop in은 [팔짝 뛰어서 타다]라는 느낌을 주므로 생동감은 있으나, 친한 사이에서만 쓰는 것이 적당하다...
Tim : I'm headed to the CBNU. Are you going my way?
난 충대 쪽으로 가는데, 같은 방향이니?
Ross : Yeah, I'm driving right past it. Get in. 응, 그쪽으로 가. 타.
eg) Where are you guys headed (for)? 너네 어디로 가냐?
eg) Which direction are you going? 어느 방향으로 가니?
Whose side are you on?
* used when someone is arguing against you when they should be supporting you
Ross : Boy, we've got big problems at my house. 아, 우리집에 큰 문제거리가 하나 생겼어.
My dad wants to go to Mt. Naejang for vacation and my mom wants Cheju Island.
휴가동안에 아빠는 내장산에 가고 싶어하고 엄마는 제주도가 좋다네.
They've been fussing for four days now. 오늘까지 4일간 논쟁을 벌이고 계셔.
Mariah : Well, Whose side are you on? 그럼, 넌 누구 편이니?
Ross : Oh, no! I'm not getting mixed up in this one. They'll decide without my help.
아, 아냐! 난 이문제에 끼어들지 않고 있어. 내 도움없이 두분이 결정하실거야.

You'd better buckle down
* buckle down 은 [~에 전력을 기울이다]라는 의미...
* buckle down [+ to] = to start working seriously
Tim : You'd better buckle down or they're going to send you packing.
열심히 일하는 게 좋아. 안그러면 너 짤릴걸?
Ross : They would be doing me a favor by giving me a pink slip.
짜르면 그게 날 도와주는 거지.
Tim : I'd have to agree with you. No one wants your job.
네 말이 맞다. 너 같은 직업을 누가 좋아하겠니.
* send a person packing 은 구어체에서 [즉시 해고하다]라는 의미가 있고, pink slip 은 [해고 통지서]라는 의미...
Tim : You've been fooling around long enough. Now it's time to buckle down and get a job.
넌 충분히 쉬었어. 이제 열심히 해서 직업을 구할 때야.
Ross : You're right. 네 말이 맞아.
Ross : I don't understand what the boss said in the meeting this morning.
난 오늘 아침 회의에서 사장님이 한 말을 이해하지 못하겠어.
Tim : I can give it to you in a nutshell. 내가 그걸 간단히 요약해서 말해줄게.
It means that we should buckle down to work not to be fired.
그건 해고당하지 않으려면 열심히 일을 해야 한다는 의미야.
eg) You've been lying down on the job. Buckle down or you'll be fired.
너 게으름 피우는데, 열심히 하지 않으면 짤릴거야.
