* cheap = not liking to spend money
* cheapskate = (informal) someone who does not like spending money
* penny-pinching = unwilling to spend or give money
Ross : They say he has refused to pay for his daughter's wedding.
듣자하니까 그가 딸의 결혼식 비용을 대지 않겠다고 했대.
Kate : What is he going to do with all his money? 가진 돈은 다 뭐에 쓰려고 그러는 거지?

* get down to business = to start dealing with an important subject
* get down to = to finally start doing something that needs a lot of time or energy
Tim : Let's get down to business. 이제 시작해보자.
Ross : It's very hard to get down to work after long holidays.
긴 휴일 이후에 일을 시작하는 것은 정말 어려워.
eg) We'd better stop chatting and get down to business.
잡답은 그만 하고, 이제 시작해보는 게 좋겠다.
Do you feel the same way?
Ross : Everyone thinks it's my fault that the papers went missing. Do you feel the same way?

Tim : Of course I don't. Don't think that. No one blames you.

I'm on the ropes
* be on the ropes = (informal) to be in a very bad situation, in which you are likely to be defeated
* throw in the towel = (informal) to admit that you have been defeated
* be on the line = (informal) = if your job, position etc is on the line, there is a possibility you might lose it
Tim : How's your business doing in this recession? 이 불경기에 사업은 어때?
Ross : I'm on the ropes. How about you? 죽을 지경이야. 너는 어때?
Tim : Same here. I'm about to throw in the towel. 마찬가지야. 나도 손들기 직전이야.
