I'd better brush up on my English
* brush up (on) one's English 는 [(잊혀져 가던) 영어를 다시 시작하다]라는 표현... 예전에 공부하던 것을 오랫동안 손 놓고 있다가 다시 시작할 때 사용하는 표현...
* brush up (on) = to quickly practise and improve your skills or knowledge
Ross : When are you going to Vietnam? 언제 베트남에 가?
Tim : This coming Friday. Oh, I just can't wait. 이번 금요일에. 아, 빨랑 가고 싶다.
Ross : I wish I could go with you. I will never forget how beautiful Hochiminh is.
나도 같이 갈 수 있으면 얼마나 좋을까. 호치민의 아름다움은 잊을 수 없을거야.
Tim : It's my first time going to Vietnam. I'm so excited.
이번이 베트남에 처음 가보는 거야. 너무 흥분돼.
Ross : You will love it, believe me. By the way, can you speak Vietnamese?
틀림없이 좋을거야. 그런데 베트남어는 할 줄 알어?
Tim : A little. I learned it at school. I'd better brush up on my Vietnamese before leaving.
약간. 학교 다닐 때 배웠거든. 가기 전에 좀 연습해보는 게 좋겠어.
Mariah : I have to brush up on my Spanish. 스페인어 복습 좀 해야겠어요.
Tim : Why? I thought you spoke Spanish fluently.
왜? 난 니가 스페인어를 아주 유창하게 하는 줄 알았는데.
eg) Before traveling to Germany, I brushed up on my German. I haven't practiced it since high school.

콜롬비아 거리에 새로 생긴 한국 식당에 가봤어?
Jay : No. Why? 아니요. 왜요?
Tim : Give it a try. That's the place to enjoy Korean meals.
한번 가봐. 한국 음식 제대로 하는 집은 바로 거기야.
* 위 대화의 [the place]에서 the는 [디]라고 크고, 길게 발음해야한다. 그래야 [바로 그곳]이라는 의미가 된다.
eg) I'm not sure I can make her change her mind, but I'll give it a try.
그녀의 마음을 바꾸어 놓을 자신이 없어. 하지만 시도해 볼게.

Karen : Thank you. 고마워요.
Tim : Excuse my appearance. I just took a shower.
이런 꼴로 손님을 맞아서 미안해. 지금 막 샤워를 했거든.
Karen : That's all right. I shouldn't have barged in like this.
괜찮아요. 내가 이렇게 갑자기 쳐들어오는 게 아닌데.
Tim : That's ok. Have a seat and make yourself at home.

Karen : Yes, if you are going my way. I'm going to the bookstore in downtown.
네, 저하고 같은 방향으로 가시면요. 저는 시내에 있는 서점에 가려고요.
Tim : Hop in. 얼른 타.
Karen : Thank you. Where are you going? 고마워요. 어디 가시는데요?
Tim : I'm going home. 집에 가는 길이야.
Karen : Your home is in the opposite direction. You're going out of your way for me.
오빠 집은 반대방향이잖아요. 나 때문에 일부러 먼길로 가는 거네요.
Tim : That's ok. A little detour won't hurt. I have plenty of time.
괜찮아. 좀 돌아간다고 안 될 건 없잖아. 시간 많거든.
Karen : Thank you a million. 정말 감사해요.
Ross : Are you going my way? 나하고 같은 방향이니?
Mariah : Where are you heading? 어디로 가는데?
