마리아같이 좋은 여자애한테 그렇게 무례하게 대하다니 너답지 않아.
Tim : Rude? No, I'm not rude to her. I'm just not interested in her.
무례? 아니, 난 무례한 게 아니고, 그냥 걔한테 관심이 없을 뿐야.
eg) It's not like her to be this late coming home. 이렇게 늦게 집에 들어오는 건 그 애답지 않아.

* be in one's shoes = to be in someone else's situation, especially a bad one
eg) Put yourself in my place. If you were in my shoes, you would do the same thing I did.
입장을 바꿔놓고 생각해 봐. 만일 네가 내 입장이었다면 너도 나와 똑같은 행동을 했을 거야.
eg) What would you do in my shoes? 네가 내 입장이라면 어떻게 하겠니?
I'll just wing it
* wing it = (spoken) to do something without planning or preparation
* play it by ear = decide what to do according to the way a situation develops
Karen : Could you make a short speech at the dinner party tonight, please?
오늘 저녁 파티에서 간단한 연설 한마디 해줄 수 있어요?
Tim : It's short notice, but I think I'll just wing it. As a matter of fact, I always play it by ear.
너무 갑작스럽긴 하지만, 즉흥적으로 해 볼게. 사실은 난 언제나 즉흥적인 연설을 하지.
eg) I didn't have time to prepare for the meeting. I'll just have to wing it.
모임을 준비할 시간이 없었어. 즉흥적으로 해야겠어.

* something can/can't wait = used to say that something is not, or is very urgent
Kate : Honey! 여보.
Tim : What? 왜 그래?
Kate : You got a minute? 잠깐 시간 좀 있어?
Tim : I'm watching a ball game on TV. 나 지금 TV에서 야구 경기 보고 있어.
Kate : I want to talk to you about our vacation. 우리 휴가에 대해서 의논할 게 있어.
Tim : Can't it wait, please? I don't want to miss this important momnet of the game.
나중에 하면 안 돼? 이 게임의 이 중요한 순간을 놓치고 싶지 않아서 그래.
Kate : All right. 알았어.
Ross : What's so important? Can't it wait till tomorrow? 뭐가 그렇게 중요해? 내일 하면 안돼?
Tim : No, it can't. 아니. 안돼.
eg) Dinner can wait. 저녁식사는 나중에 해도 된다.

* in the bag = (informal) certain to be won or achieved
Ross : What's your TOEIC score? 너 토익 점수가 얼마냐?
Tim : 915. 915점이야.
Ross : That high? Your admission to Hanyang University TESOL Course is in the bag.
그렇게 높아. 한양대 테솔 입학은 떼어놓은 당상이네.
Tim : Not really. I still have an interview with Prof. 꼭 그런건 아냐. 아직 면접이 남아 있거든.
eg) We're sure to win. The match is in the bag.
우리가 이길게 확실해. 그 경기는 떼어놓은 당상이야.
eg) President Ahn's re-election is in the bag. 안 대통령의 재선은 떼어놓은 당상이다.
