* catch up on : to do what needs to be done because you have not been able to do it until now
Kate : You look really tired. 너 정말 피곤해 보여.
Ross : I have to catch up on my sleep. 밀린 잠 좀 보충해야겠어.
Kate : You should go to hit the hay early tonight. 오늘 일찍 자는 게 좋겠어.
Ross : That's good idea. I think I'll do that. 좋은 생각이야. 그래야겠어.
* hit the hay 는 구어체에서 [잠을 자다]라는 의미...
Tim : Why are you yawning so much? Didn't you get enough sleep last night?
왜 그렇게 하품을 연발하냐? 어제 밤에 충분히 못 잤냐?
Kate : No, I was up till 3 a.m. last night. 응, 어제밤 새벽 3시까지 안자고 있었어.
My uncle came to visit from Busan and we just couldn't stop talking.
부산에서 삼촌이 오셨는데 얘기가 끝이 있어야지.
Tim : Well then, we'd better call off our date for tonight.
그럼 오늘밤 만나기로한 약속은 취소해야겠네.
You should catch up on your sleep. 밀린 잠을 보충해야지.
Tim : Do you have something special this weekend? 이번 주말에 특별히 할 일 있니?
Ross : Nothing special. I'm going to catch up on my school work.
특별히 할 일 없어. 학교 공부나 보충해 놓으려고.
Ross : Doing anything special this weekend? 이번 주말에 특별한 계획 있어?
Mariah : Not much, I guess. I'm just going to catch up on doing some chores. Why?
아니. 그냥 밀린 집안일이나 할 건데. 왜?
Ross : I was wondering if you could help me with the report.
나 리포트 쓰는 것 좀 도와줄 수 있나 해서.

* clip joint는 손님들에게 부당요금을 과하여 바가지를 씌우는 술집 등의 업소를 가리킨다...
* clip-joint = (slang) a restaurant or nightclub that charges too much for food, drinks etc
* rip off = (spoken) to chare someone too much money for something
Tim : Boy, what a clip joint! I'll never go back there again.
야, 정말 바가지 업소군! 다시는 가지 말아야지.
Ross : You said it. They soaked us $3.00 for a bottle of beer. What a rip-off!
정말 그래. 맥주 한 병에 3달러 씩이나 받아 먹었으니, 날강도들이야!

* go out with somebody = to spend a lot of time wiht someone and have a romantic relationship with them
* ask somebody out = ask someone, especially someone of the opposite sex, to go to the theater, a restaurant etc with you
Ross : Are you going out with Tim? 너 팀하고 사귀니?
Kate : He asked me out, but I refused. 그애가 데이트 신청했는데, 내가 거절했어.
Ross : Why? 왜?
Kate : He's just not my type, I guess. 그애는 내 스타일이 아니잖아.
Ross : I heard you are going out with Kate and she's head over heels in love with you.
케이트랑 사귀고 있다는 소문 들었어. 그녀가 너한테 완전히 빠져 있다며?
Tim : I sure hope so. 나도 그러길 바래.

Tim : Did you watch the Redsocks-Yankees game on TV in the morning?
오전에 TV에서 보스턴 레드삭스와 뉴욕 양키즈 경기 봤니?
Ross : No, I didn't. Who won? 아니. 못 봤어. 누가 이겼는데?
Tim : The Redsocks came from behind and won 8 to 7. Manny Ramirez hit a grand slam.
보스턴이 8대 7로 역전승을 했거든. 매니 라미레즈 선수가 만루홈런을 쳤거든.
Ross : Manny Ramirez is a real slugger, isn't he? 매니 라미레즈는 정말 강타자야. 그지?
Tim : Sure is. He is one of the my favorite players. 물론. 그는 내가 가장 좋아하는 선수 중 하나야.
Ross : Are you going to watch the movie on TV tonight? 오늘밤 TV에서 하는 영화 볼거니?
Tim : No, I think I'll watch the soccer game. 아니 축구경기 보려고.
