* stay up all night는 [밤을 꼬박 새다]라는 의미...
* stay up = not go to bed
Ross : You look like hell. Didn't you get any sleep last night?
얼굴이 말이 아니네. 어젯밤 잠 못 잤니?
Tim : No, not a wink. I stayed up all night, waiting for my drunken roommate.
한숨도 못 잤어. 술고래 방짝을 기다리느라 밤샜거든.
Ross : I can't stop yawning. I stayed up all night studying for my Math finals.
하품을 멈출 수가 없네. 수학 기말고사 준비하느라 밤을 샜거든.
Kate : Don't yawn so much. They say that yawning is contagious.
너무 많이 하품하지마. 하품은 옮는다고 하잖아.
Ross : Will you do me a favor. Can I crash at your place tonight?
부탁이 있는데, 오늘 너네 집에서 자도 될까?
Tim : No way! I go to stay up all night for the report.
절대 안돼! 리포트 때문에 밤새야 하거든.
I can't concentrate if someone's snoring next to me. 누가 옆에서 코골면 집중을 못하거든.
* crash = to stay at someone's house for the night, especially when you have not planned to
Tim : Why are your eyes so swollen? 왜 그렇게 눈이 부었다냐?
Ross : I couldn't sleep a wink last night. I had to stay up all night for something.
어제 한숨도 못 잤어. 뭘 좀 하느라 밤을 세워야 했거든.
eg) In spite of an all-nighter, I did terrible in the exam today.
밤을 새서 공부를 했는데도 오늘 시험을 엉망으로 봤어.
* all-nighter는 슬랭으로[밤샘 공부]라는 의미...
eg) I stayed up late to watch the film. 나는 영화를 보느냐 늦게까지 자지 않았다.

Taxi driver : Where to. Sir? 손님, 어디로 모실까요?
Tim : I'd like to go to Seonam Church. Please take a shortcut. I've got to be there by 7.
서남교회요. 지름길로 가주세요. 7시까지 가야돼요.
Taxi driver : I'll try. but it's rush hour now and the traffic is very heavy.
알겠습니다만, 지금이 러시아워라서 길이 너무 막히네요.
eg) I tried to take a shortcut but the road was under construction.
나는 지름길을 택하려고 했는데 그 길은 공사중이었어.
eg) I decided to take a shortcut home. 나는 지름길을 이용해서 집으로 가기로 결정했다.
I have an upset stomach
* upset stomach = an illness that affects the stomach and makes you feel sick
eg) Chew your food well before you swallow it. If not, you may have an upset stomach again.
음식을 삼키기 전에 꼭꼭 씹어 먹어. 그렇지 않으면 또 체할라.
eg) My stomach is upset. I don't think we should have eaten that desert.
속이 불편해. 그 디저트를 먹지 말았어야 했는데.
Are you out of your mind?
* be out of your mind = (informal) to behave in a way that is crazy or stupid
Tim : I hear you flew in the face of your boss. Were you out of your mind?
너 사장님한테 대들었다며? 제정신이니?
Ross : Well, I don't know. I guess I was crazy. 모르겠어. 정신이 나갔었나봐.
* fly in the face of 는 [대들다][정면으로 반항하다]라는 의미...
Rpss : I bought her a BMW. 그녀에게 BMW 한 대 사줬어.
Tim : You're off your rocker. 너 제정신이 아니구나.
* off one's rocker 는 [미쳐서](crazy)[흥분해서]라는 의미의 속어...
eg) Karen must be out of her mind to marry Ross.
카렌이 로스와 결혼을 한다니 제정신이 아닌게 분명해.
Why the rush?
* there's no rush = (spoken) there is no need to hurry
Ross : Why the rush? 왜 그렇게 서둘러?
Tim : I have a plane to catch at ten. 10시에 탈 비행기가 있어서.
Tim : Why the rush? 뭐가 그렇게 급해?
Ross : My alarm never went off and so I overslept. Now I'm late for class.
시계가 울린 것도 모르고 늦잠 잤어. 수업 늦었다.
Tim : I'm going to the Office Depot in about ten minutes. Do you want to come along?
10분 후에 사무용품 사러 갈건데. 같이 갈래?
Mariah : I'd really love to, but I won't be ready for another twenty minutes.
정말 가고싶어요. 그런데 20분 안에 준비 못할 것 같아요.
Tim : That'll be okay. There is no rush. They're open until nine tonight.
괜찮아. 서두룰 것 없어. 9시까지 문을 열거든.
Tim : We've got to have these charts finished by this Saturday, Kate.
케이트, 우린 토요일까지 이 차트들을 마무리져야해.
Kate : What's the rush? Today's only Wednesday.
뭐가 그렇게 급해? 오늘은 겨우 수요일이야.
Didn't you hear that the presentation was moved to next Tuesday?
발표가 다음주 화요일로 옮겨진거 못들었어?
Tim : Really? I didn't know that. 정말? 난 몰랐어.
Ross : Out of my way! I'm coming through! 비켜! 지나간다!
Tim : Where's the fire? 뭐가 그렇게 급해? 어디 불이라도 났냐?
