Ross : Hey, what are you doing? 이봐, 뭐하고 있어?
Kate : You scared me. I hate you when you barge into my room like that.
놀랐잖아. 그런식으로 갑자기 방에 들어오지마.
Ross : Sorry. 미안해.

eg) I wish he wouldn't barge in like that. 그가 그렇게 불쑥 들어오지 않았으면 좋겠어.

Kate : How come you always argue with Ross? 넌 왜 로스와 항상 말다툼이니?
Mariah : Whatever I say, Ross misunderstands me all the time.

Kate : Did you take Mariah to the airport this morning?
오늘 아침에 공항에 마리아를 데려다줬어?
Tim : Not exactly. I dropped her off at the Lotte Department Store.
정확히 말하자면 그러진 않았어. 롯데백화점 앞에서 내려줬어.
She was going to catch a shuttle from there to the airport.
거기서 공항까진 셔틀버스를 탄다고 했거든.
Tim : Was that someone at the front door? 현관에 누가 오지 않았어?
Kate : Yes, it was the mailman. He had a package to drop off that he wanted me to sign for.
맞아, 우체부가 왔다 갔어. 소포를 하나 갖고 와서 서명을 부탁했어.
Tim : I thought it might be someone from work. I'm expecting someone to drop by.
난 직장에서 온 사람인줄 알았네. 잠시 들를 사람이 있거든.
Karen : Would you give me a lift? 태워주실래요?
Tim : Sure. Where shall I drop you off? 물론. 어디에 내려다 주면 될까?

* (spoken) used to say that you think something is very unlikely to happen
Tim : I really should take a week off and relax. 정말 일주일간 휴가를 얻어 쉬어야 겠다.
Ross : That'll be the day! You're too much of a workholic to take off from work.
설마! 너 같은 일중독자가 쉴 수 있을까?
Ross : I'll quit smoking after finishing this pack. 이 갑만 피우고 담배 끊을거야.
Mariah : Oh, really? That'll be the day. 정말? 그럴 리가 있겠나.
Kate : When he finally gets married, he'll then stop playing the field, settle down.
그도 결국 결혼하면 바람을 그만 피우고 정착할거야.
Ross : That'll be the day. 그럴 리가 있겠어?
Ross : Could you lend me some money? 돈 좀 빌려 줄 수 있니?
Tim : Not again. You never pay back. 다시는 안돼. 넌 절대 갚지 않잖아.
Ross : I'll pay you back some of these days. 언젠가는 갚을 게.
Tim : That'll be the day. 그러면 오죽 좋겠냐. / 그런 날이 과연 올까?
Karen : You made a hole in the carpet. Can't you be more careful when you smoke?
너 카펫에 구멍을 냈잖아. 담배피울 때 좀 더 조심할 수 없어?
Ross : I'm sorry. I'll quit smoking after finishing this pack.
미안해. 이 한갑만 피우고 담배를 아주 끊어 버릴게.
Karen : That will be the day. 그러면 오죽 좋겠냐.
Ross : Kate says she'll wash the dishes tonight. 케이트가 오늘 저녁에 설거지 한다고 말했어.
Tim : That'll be the day. 그럴리가 있겠냐?
Ross : Wouldn't it be nice if we had to go to school only three days a week?
일주일에 사흘만 학교에 가면 얼마나 좋을까?
Tim : That'll be the day. 그런 일은 절대 없을 거야.
me a ball park figure?
* ballpark 은 [야구장]이라는 뜻인 줄 다 알지만, ballpark figure 는 [어림숫자]라는 의미...
* a ballpark figure = a number or amount that is almost but not exactly correct
Tim : How much do you think it would cost to repair my car? 내 차 수리비 얼마나 나오겠냐?
Can you give me a ball park figure? 대충 말해줄 수 있어?
Ross : Well, it costs around two hundred dollars offhand. Maybe a little more.
언뜻보기에 200불 정도 들 것 같은데. 어쩌면 좀 더 들지도 모르고.
Tim : How much do you make a year? 너 연봉 얼마냐?
Ross : Not much. 많지 않아.
Tim : Just give me a ballpark figure. Thirty thousand dollars? 대충 얼마야? 3만 달러야?
Ross : It's in the ballpark. 대충 맞아.
eg) Can you give me a ballpark figure for the bus? 버스 빌리는데 대충 얼마나 드는지 알 수 있니?
eg) You don't have to be precise. Just give me a rough estimate.
정확한 숫자는 필요없어. 대충 얼마나 되는지만 말해 줘.
