Tim : How's the new intern doing? 새로운 인턴사원 어떠냐?
Ross : She's doing just great. I think we ought to offer her a permanent position.
아주 잘 하고 있어. 그녀를 정식 채용해야 될 것 같아.
Tim : All right. I'll leave the matter up to you. 좋아. 그 문제는 너에게 맡기기로 하겠어.
Ross : Who would be the best choice to head the committee?
위원회를 이끌 적격인 사람이 누구있지?
Tim : That's up to you. 그건 니가 정할 일이야.
Tim : Should we go to the beach or the mountain? 해변으로 갈까, 산으로 갈까?
Kate : The ball's at your feet ; it's your car, you choose.

Tim : Did you? How was it? 그랬어? 어땠어?
Ross : It was a blast. We were really getting down. 환상적이었어. 정말 재밌었다고.
Tim : Wow, look at those bikinied knockouts! 와, 저기 비키니의 미녀들 좀 봐!
Ross : I bet that we can make unforgettable memory here with those girls.
내가 장담하는데 우리 저 걸들하고 여기서 끝내주는 추억을 만들 수 있을 거야.

Tim : Officer, please give me a break! 경관님, 한번만 봐주세요!
Officer : No way! Hand me your driver's license. 어림없어요! 운전 면허증 주세요.
Tim : Can you make me a sandwich? 나 샌드위치 하나만 만들어 줄래?
Kate : No way. Make it yourself! 말도 안돼. 니가 직접 만들어 먹어!
Kate : Can I do a U-turn here? 여기서 유턴해도 될까?
Tim : No way. It's against the law. And if the cops see you, you'll get a ticket.
안돼. 그건 불법이야. 경찰에게 들키면 딱지 떼일거라구.
Mariah : Mom, can I go out with the guy next door? 엄마, 나 옆집 애랑 데이트해도 돼?
Mom : No way! It's out of the question. 안돼! 말도 안되는 소리 하고 있어.
* out of the question = not impossible or not allowed
Not a chance
* (spoken) used to emphasize that you are sure something could never happen
= no chance = fat chance
* far from it = (spoken) used to say that the opposite of what someone says is true
Ross : Hey, can you take care of my dog while I'm away.
이봐, 나 없는 동안 우리 개 좀 봐줄 수 있어?
Tim : Not a chance. You know I hate dogs.
어림 반푼어치도 없는 소리 하지마. 나 개 싫어하는 거 알잖아.
Tim : Maybe your sister would lend you the money? 혹시 너네 언니가 너에게 돈을 빌려줄까?
Kate Huh, fat chance! 어림도 없는 소리.
Kate : Why don't we take this up with Tim? 팀이랑 상의해 보는 게 어때?
Ross : Well, I don't think he knows anything about it.
글쎄, 내 생각엔 그가 그 일에 대해 아는 게 전혀 없는 것 같은데.
Kate : Far from it. He's an expert on that. 당치도 않아. 그는 그 일에 대해서는 전문가야.
I'm just thinking out loud
* think out loud = to say what you are thinking, without talking to anyone in particular
Tim : Did you say something? 뭐라고 했어?
Ross : No, I'm just thinking out loud. 아니, 그냥 혼잣말이야.
Kate : Don't pay attention to me. I was thinking out loud.
나한테 신경쓰지 마. 혼자 해본 소리야.
Tim : I'm wondering what you were talking about. 나는 무슨 얘기하나 했네.
