* chip in = to give a small amount of money so that they can buy something together
* pass the hat (around) = to collect money from a group of people, especially in order to buy someone a present
Kate : What's the date today? 어늘 며칠이지?
Ross : May 16. 5월 16일.
Kate : We almost forgot Tim's birthday. 하마터면 팀의 생일을 잊을 뻔했군.
Ross : Yeah. Let's chip in and buy him a present. 그래. 돈을 거둬서 선물을 하나 사주자.
Kate : Good idea. What are we going to buy? 좋은 생각이야. 뭘 사주지?
Ross : How about a fancy watch? 멋진 시계 어때?
Kate : Sounds good. 좋아.
A : What's the best way to disperse a crowd? 군중을 해산시키는 가장 좋은 방법은 뭐니?
B : To pass the hat for a charity. 자선 단체를 위해 돈을 걷는 거야.

* hold up = to remain strong and not become weaker
Tim : How's it going? 잘 지내니?
Karen : Good. Thank you. How about yourself? 네, 잘 지내요. 오빠는요?
Tim : I'm good, too. 나도 잘 지내.
Karen : That's good. 다행이네요.
Tim : How are you holding up, Kate? 어떻게 지내냐, 케이트?
Kate : Don't even ask. That Chem exam was beyond hard.
말도 하지마. 화학 시험이 너무 어려웠어.
I didn't even understand the last essay question. 마지막 주관식 문제는 이해도 못 했어.
Tim : Man, this heat is something else! How are you holding up?
어휴 이번 더위는 유별나네! 어떻게 견디고 있어?
Mariah : Pretty well. I have air conditioning in my home and at work.
잘 견디고 있어요. 집과 직장에 에어컨이 있거든요.

* Mr Right = a man who would be the perfect husband for a particular woman
Tim : You're single, aren't you? 너 아직 미혼이지?
Karen : Yes, I am. 네.
Tim : When are you going to marry? 언제 결혼할 거니?
Karen : I don't know. I haven't met Mr Right yet. 모르겠네요. 아직 이상형을 만나지 못했거든요.
Tim : Well, it's not easy to find a Prince Chanrming. I haven't met the right woman, either.
글쎄, 이상적인 남성을 찾기란 쉬운 일이 아니지. 나도 아직 이상형을 찾지 못 했어.

Did you dump her or did you get dumped?
* dump는 [(쓰레기 등을) 버리다]라는 뜻인데, 구어체에서는 [무책임하게 버리다]라는 뜻도 있다...
* dump = to get rid of someone or something that you do not want
Tim : Is it true Ross dumped you the other day? You two were about to get married.
로스가 며칠 전에 널 찼다는 게 사실이야? 너희 둘은 결혼할 참이었잖아.
Mariah : Yes, we were. 그래요, 그랬었어요.
But a few days ago, suddenly he told me he's leaving me for a younger woman.
그런데 며칠 전에 그가 갑자기 더 젊은 여자를 사귀기 위해 날 떠나겠다고 했어요.
I'm never falling in love again! 전 다시는 사랑에 빠지지 않을 거에요!
Tim : Yeah, love sucks! 그래. 사랑이 뭔지!
Ross : I got dumped because I don't have any money. "No money, no honey," they say.
난 돈 없어서 채였다. "돈 없으면 애인도 안생긴다"잖아.
Tim : I know you were just her part-time lover, nothing more, nothing less.
넌 그 여자의 심심풀이 땅콩이었어, 그 이상도 그 이하도 아니였지.
eg) My girlfriend has dumped me because I'm a poor salary worker.
내 여친이 내가 월급쟁이라고 차버렸어.
eg) I hear Karen has dumped her boyfriend. 카렌이 남자친구를 찼다는 얘기를 들었다.

Kate : Be careful! There are a lot of deer around here. 조심해! 이 주위엔 사슴들이 많아.
They jump onto the road without warning. 불쑥 도로로 뛰어 올라온다니까.
Tim : Don't worry. I don't see any deer. 걱정하지 마. 한 마리도 안 보이는데 뭐.
Kate : Slow down! You're driving too fast! You're going to hit something.
속도 좀 늦춰! 너무 빠르잖아! 그러다가 벙말 뭐라도 치겠네.
Tim : Hurry up and quit dragging your feet. 꾸물대지 말고 서둘러.
Ross : I'm moving as far as l can. Why don't you slow down?
최대한 빨리 가구 있다구. 네가 좀 천천히 가지 그래?
