I heard you were up all last night studying. 듣자하니 어제 밤새 공부했다던데.
Ross : I think I did all right. 그럭저럭.
But you know that feeling, right? "I could have done it better if I only..." You know?
근데 그런 거 있잖아? "좀 더 잘 할 수 있었는데..." 그런 기분 알지?
Tim : Yes, I know exactly what you mean. But it's all water under the bridge.
그래, 알아. 하지만 이미 지난 일이야.

* bygones는 [과거] 혹은 [과거의 일]이라는 의미의 명사...
* to forget something bad that someone has done to you and forgive them
Ross : You remember when we were students? We didn't have to worry about nothing.
학생 때 기억나? 아무 걱정할 필요가 없었는데.
Tim : Tell me about it, man. Those were the days! 말해서 뭘해. 그때가 좋았어.
But what is important is now, not then! Let bygones be bygones.
하지만 중요한 건 그때가 아니라 지금이야. 과거는 과거로 묻자.
Tim : I owe you an apology. I think I hurt your feelings yesterday.
사과할게 있어. 내가 어제 니 기분을 상하게 한 것 같아.
Kate : Forget it. Let bygones be bygones. 잊어버려. 과거는 과거니 잊어버려.
Tim : How are you doing? 어떻게 지내니?
Mariah : Well, I'm not happy now. I don't have any desire to study English at all.
글쎄요, 지금 좋지 않아요. 영어 공부를 할 마음이 전혀 없어요.
Tim : What happened to you? 무슨 일 있었니?
Mariah : Can you believe that I failed the English test again?
제가 영어 시험에 또 떨어졌다는 걸 믿으시겠어요?
Tim : Really? Unbelievable. Sorry to hear that. 정말? 믿을 수 없어. 정말 유감이다.
Mariah : You know. I tried to do my best. 저는 최선을 다했다구요.
Tim : I see. Let bygones be bygones. 알아. 지난 일이니 잊어버려.

I'm sure she'd like to be friends again. Meet her halfway.

I'm all thumbs today
* 우리의 다섯손가락이 모두 엄지손가락 같다면... 상상만해도 답답하죠... 엄지손가락이 다섯 중 대장이라지만... 모두가 엄지손가락이라면 둔해서 실수를 많이 저지를 것 같군요...
* be all thumbs = (informal) to be unable to do things neatly and carefully with your hands
Tim : Execuse me, Kate, could you please untie this for me?
케이트, 미안하지만, 이것 좀 풀어 줄래?
I'm all thumbs when it comes to untieing knots.

나 오늘 왜 이러니? 핸드폰 떨어뜨려 액정 깨지고, 농구하다가 안경 깨먹고, 커피마시다가 흘리고...
eg) She is all thumbs when operating a computer. She's constantly pushing the wrong buttons.
그녀는 컴퓨터를 다루는게 서툴어. 계속해서 자판을 잘못 치거든.
That's what friends are for
* a fair-weather friend = someone who only wants to be your friend when you are successful
Tim : I really appreciate your helping me with this mess.
이 귀찮은 일을 도와줘서 정말 고마워.
Mariah : No problem. That's what friends are for. 친구 좋다는 게 뭐겠어요?
Ross : Thank you so much for the interest-free loan. 이자없이 돈을 빌려줘서 정말 고마워.
Tim : Think nothing of it. What are friends for? 신경쓰지 마. 친구 좋다는 게 뭔가?
Ross : I owe you a big one this time. 이번엔 자네에게 아주 큰 신세를 졌네.
Tim : Don't say that. What are friends for? 무슨 소리. 친구 좋다는 게 뭔가?
Ross : Thanks for picking me up after work. 퇴근 후에 데리러 와서 고마워.
Tim : Don't worry. It wasn't a problem. 걱정마쇼. 별것 아니었어.
Ross : You really helped me out a lot. 정말 많은 도움이 됐어.
Tim : Hey. What are friends for? 이봐. 친구 좋다는 게 뭐야?
eg) I think Ross was a friend in need, but he turned out to be a fair-weather friend.
난 로스가 진정한 친구인줄 알았는데, 알고보니 말뿐인 친구였어.
My patience is low
* stretch one's patience to the limit = to be almost beyond the limits of what someone can accept, believe etc
Kate : I have a really bad cold. I took some medicine, but it's not going away.
나 감기 된통 걸렸어. 약 먹었는데 떨어지질 않네.
Tim : Why don't you go to the doctor? It's not good to leave a problem like that untreated.
병원에 가보는 게 어때? 병을 치료하지 않고 그냥 두면 좋지 않아.
Kate : I'd like to go, but I don't want to go and wait in line for a long time. My patience is low.
나도 가고 싶은데 가서 오랫동안 줄서서 기다리는 게 싫거든. 난 참을성이 없어서.
eg) Don't stretch my patience to the limit. 내 인내심을 테스트하지 마.
eg) His behaviour has stretched my patience to the limit.
그의 행동이 내 인내심의 한계를 넘어가게 했다.
