Tim : Let's go to the rest stop. It's your turn to drive. 휴게소에 들르자. 니가 운전할 차례야.
Ross : Do you mean that you don't want to drive anymore? 운전하기 싫단 말이야?
Tim : I want to. but I'm tired. 하고는 싶은데 피곤해.
Ross : Okay, I guess it is my turn to drive for a while. 알았어, 그럼 내가 좀 운전하지.
Tim : It's your turn to do me a favor. 니가 내 부탁을 들어줄 차례야.
Kate : I'd like to give you a rain check. 이번에는 안되고 다음에 들어줄게.
eg) Whose turn is it? It's your turn? 누구 차례야? 니 차례야?
eg) It's your turn. Roll the dice. 네 차례야. 주사위를 던져.
Tim : Hi, Kate. It's good to see you. 안녕. 케이트. 만나서 반가워.
Kate : Same here. How's your work? 저도 그래요. 직장생활 어떠세요?
Tim : It keeps me busy. What are you doing now? 바빠. 넌 요즘 모해?
Kate : I'm taking English conversation classes. 영어회화 수업 듣고 있어요.
Tim : How are you doing? 수업 어때?
Kate : It's harder than I expected. 예상했던 것보다 힘들어요.
Tim : I'm thankful that we got the project finished on time.
프로젝트를 제때에 끝낼 수 있어서 정말 다행이다.
Ross : Same here. Now we can relax over the weekend.
그래. 이젠 주말에 제대로 쉴 수 있겠네.
Tim : What's the weather doing outside? 밖에 날씨 어때?
Ross : I've been so swamped with work that I haven't had a chance to look out the window.
일이 너무 바빠서 창밖을 쳐다볼 시간도 없었어.
Tim : Same here. It's one of those days. 나도 그래.
Tim : Karen, meet my friend Ross. 카렌, 내 친구 로스하고 인사해.
Karen : Hi. Pleased to meet you. 안녕하세요. 만나서 반가워요.
Ross : Same here. 저도요.
Tim : Ross and I went to school together. 로스하고 나는 같은 학교 나왔어.
Ross : We have been talking for about half an hour, but we haven't met yet, have we?
우린 30분정도나 이야기를 나눴는데 아직 서로의 이름을 모르네요, 그렇죠?
Tim : No. My name is Tim. 그러네요. 제 이름은 팀이에요.
Ross : Ross here. Nice meeting you. 저는 로스라고 해요. 만나서 반가워요.
Tim : Same here. 저도요.
Taxi Driver : Let me unload your luggage for you. The fare is $12.50.
짐을 내려 드리죠. 요금은 12달러 50센트입니다.
Tim : Here's $15.00, keep the change. 여기 15달러 입니다. 거스름돈은 가지세요.
Taxi Driver : Hey, thanks a lot. You make sure you have a nice stay in Cheong-Ju.
정말 감사합니다. 청주에서 즐거운 시간되세요.
Taxi Driver : That's $17. 17달러입니다.
Guest : Here's $20. Keep the change. 여기 20달러요. 거스름돈은 가지세요
Tim : This weather is awful. 오늘 날씨가 아주 나쁜데.
Ross : I know, and they cancelled our soccer game. 그래, 우리 축구 경기가 취소 되었어.
Tim : Can you come over to my house? 우리 집으로 올 수 있니?
Ross : Sure. 물론이지.
Tim : We will find something to do inside. 집안에서 할 일을 찾아 보자.
Ross : I'll be right over. 곧 갈게.
Kate : Hello, Ross, can you call a doctor to come over right away?
여보세요 로스. 의사더러 곧 와 달라고 전화 좀 해줄래요?
My boy took a bad fall and I'm afraid to move him.
내 아들이 심하게 넘어져서 어디로 옮기기가 걱정이 되서요.
Ross : Sure, don't move him. One will be over right away.
걸어드릴게요. 그 아이를 움직이지 마세요.
Kate : Thanks, I'll be down at the gate waiting.
고마워요. 전 내려가 대문에서 기다리고 있을게요.
Tim : Can you come over right away? I really need your help.
지금 바로 건너올 수 있니? 니 도움이 꼭 필요해.
Mariah : Sure thing. I'll be right there. 그러죠. 금방 갈게요.
Tim : Is that true? Did you borrow money from Ross?
그거 사실이야? 당신 로스한테서 돈 빌렸어?
Kate : Oh, it's actually... 아, 사실말야...
Tim : So, you're saying you did, right? 그러니까 사실이란 말이지, 그래?
Kate : Honey, listen to me. 여보, 내 말 좀 들어봐.
I understand you feel awful about this but it's no big deal indeed.
당신이 화를 내는 건 이해하지만 정말 별 일 아니야.
Tim : You promised me not to borrow money from anyone just a week ago
바로 일주일 전에 다시는 돈을 안 빌린다고 약속해 놓고
and you did this behind my back? 나 몰래 또 빌려?
Kate : I'm so sorry but this is the last time, I swear.
정말 미안해. 하지만 맹세코 이번이 마지막이야.
* behind one's back 는 [본인이 없는 데서][몰래]라는 의미...
Kate : My son never listen to me. 내 아들은 내 말을 통 안들어.
Mariah : Mine, neither. Everything I say to him goes in one ear and out the other.
우리애도 마찬가지예요. 내가 하는 말은 전부 한 귀로 듣고 한 귀로 흘린다니까요.
