1. 학교 및 학년
   ♣ Today I am going to tell you about our school.
      오늘은 우리 학교에 대해 말씀드리겠습니다.
   ♣ I go to school by bus and it takes me about 20 minutes to go to school.        Sometimes I walk to school, too.
      저는 버스로 학교를 가는데 약 20분이 걸립니다. 가끔은 걸어서 가기도 합니다.
   ♣ My school is co-educational. I am in the 2nd grade at Seoul Middle School.
      저의 학교는 남녀 공학입니다. 저는 서울 중학교 2학년입니다.

2. 학교 시설 및 수업 시간
   ♣ Our school is a three-storied concrete building.
      우리 학교는 2층 콘크리트 건물입니다.
   ♣ There are four school houses in our school.
      우리 학교에는 4동의 교사(校舍)가 있습니다.
   ♣ Our school also has a music room, an art room, a science room, a library, a        gymnasium and so forth.
       학교에는 음악실, 미술실, 과학실, 도서관, 체육관 등도 있습니다.
   ♣ There are some courts for volleyball, basketball, tennis and a playground, too.
       또한 배구, 농구, 테니스장 등이 있으며 운동장도 있습니다.
   ♣ My school is a public(private) one.
       우리 학교는 공립(사립)입니다.
   ♣ My school is about 2 Km away from my house. Will you tell me about your school?
       학교는 집에서 2Km쯤 됩니다. 당신 학교에 대해서 말해 주십시오.
   ♣ School begins at 9 a. m. and ends at 5 p.m.
      After the regular classes we have two more supplementary lessons.
       우리 학교는 오전 8시에 시작해서 오후 5시에 끝납니다. 수업이 끝나면 2시간의
       보충 수업이 있습니다.
   ♣ We have 4 classes in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Classes last for 50 min,
       and we have a 10 min, break between classes. But on Saturday we have 4
       in the morning.
       우리는 오전에 4교시 오후에 2교시의 수업을 합니다. 수업은 50분이며 10분간의
      쉬는 시간이 있습니다. 그러나 토요일에는 오전 4시간의 수업만 합니다.

3. 방과후 생활
   ♣ Some stay in the library to study and some take part in their club activities after        school.
       일과후 도서관에서 공부를 하는 학생도 있고 클럽 활동을 하는 학생도 있습니다.
   ♣ After class I go to the institution for private lesson and then go to library to        study till late.
       학교가 끝나면 학원에 갔다가 늦게까지 도서관에서 공부를 합니다.
   ♣ Entrance for university is highly competitive in Korea for the narrow gate to        university.
       대학 입시 관문이 너무 좁기 때문에 입시 경쟁이 매우 치열합니다.
   ♣ Many students get tired with the study everyday.
       많은 학생들이 공부하는데 지쳐 있습니다.
   ♣ I don`t study so much.
       저는 그렇게 공부를 열심히 하지는 않는 편입니다.
   ♣ I like hanging out with friends here and there.
       친구들과 여기 저기 돌아다니기를 좋아합니다.
   ♣ I study for about two ours everyday st home after school and go to sleep at 11        every night.
       저는 방과후에 집에서 매일 두시간 가량 공부를 하고 있으며 11시쯤 잠자리에 듭니다.

4. 클럽 활동
   ♣ Now I will tell you a little about club activities in our school.
       우리 학교 클럽 활동에 대해 말씀해 드리겠습니다.
   ♣ In our school we have a lot of clubs anybody can join.
       우리 학교에는 누구나 참여할 수 있는 많은 클럽이 있습니다.
   ♣ The clubs in our school can be divided into the Literature Club, the Fine Arts        Club, the Calligraphy Club and various Sports Clubs.
       우리 학교에는 문학, 미술, 서예 그리고 각종 스포츠 클럽이 있습니다.
   ♣ I am joining Glee Club for I wanted to learn singing, but I don`t sing well.
       저는 노래를 배우기 위하여 합창단에 가입했지만 아직 노래를 잘하지는 못합니다.
   ♣ The time does not permit me to enjoy the club activity for I spend much to study.
       저는 공부하는데 많은 시간을 할애하고 있기 때문에 클럽 활동을 할 시간이 없습니다.

5. 학   과
   ♣ I take the Korean language, English and Mathematics at school.
       우리는 학교에서 국어, 영어, 수학, 과학을 배웁니다.
   ♣ What subjects do you learn in your school?
       당신은 학교에서 무슨 과목을 배우십니까?
   ♣ We learn English from the first year of Middle school, but not enough to carry
       on writing a letter in English.
       우리는 중학교 1학년 때부터 영어를 배우기 시작합니다. 그렇지만 영어로 편지를
      쓸 정도는 아닙니다.
   ♣ I am good at Mathematics but I am poor at English.
       저는 수학을 잘하는데 영어는 형편없습니다.
   ♣ I like English best of all but I don`t like Science.
       저는 영어를 제일 좋아하고 과학은 싫어합니다.
   ♣ Korean, English and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, but other subjects are        elective.
       국어, 영어, 수학은 필수 과목이며 다른 과목은 선택 과목입니다.
   ♣ I am good at all the subjects except Mathematics.
       저는 수학을 제외한 모든 과목을 좋아합니다.
   ♣ I am taking German, too. Most Korean students take second foreign language out        of German, French, Spanish and Japanese.
       저는 제 2외국어로 독일어도 배웁니다. 한국의 고등학교 학생들은 제 2외국어로
      독어, 불어, 서반아어, 일본어 중 하나를 배웁니다.
   ♣ What foreign language are you learning at your school?
      당신은 학교에서 어떤 외국어를 배우지요?
   ♣ I take private piano lessons, too.
      저는 과외로 피아노도 배우고 있습니다.

6. 학기 및 방학/휴일
   ♣ In Korean the school year begins in March and ends in February the next year.
       한국에서 학년은 3월에 시작해서 다음해 2월에 끝납니다.
   ♣ The school year is divided into two terms. The first term begins in March and        closes in the middle of July. The second term begins in September and closes in        February.
       한 학년은 2학기로 나누어져 있습니다. 1학기는 3월에 시작되며 7월 중순에 끝나며
       2학기는 9월에 시작해서 2월에 끝납니다.
   ♣ The summer vacation starts on July 21 and ends at the beginning of the second       term.
       여름방학은 7월 21일에 시작해서 2학기가 시작되면서 끝납니다.
   ♣ The winter vacation takes place around the middle of Dec. and it lasts about       55 days.
       겨울방학은 12월 중순에 시작해서 약 55일간 계속됩니다.
   ♣ I have about two more weeks before the 40 days of Summer vacation.
       이주일 후엔 40일간 즐거운 여름 방학이 기다리고 있습니다.
   ♣ When does your school break up for the Summer vacation this year?
       당신 학교는 언제부터 방학에 들어갑니까?
   ♣ I am planning to go to my grandmother`s house during this vacation.
       이번 방학중에는 시골에 사시는 할머니 댁에 놀러 갈 계획입니다.
   ♣ I am going to have a part time job this summer vacation.
       이번 방학중에는 아르바이트를 할 예정입니다.
   ♣ Do you have any plans for your summer vacation this year?
       당신은 금년 여름방학에 어떤 계획이 있습니까?
   ♣ We have a lot of homework to do during this Winter vacation.
       이번 겨울방학에는 해야 할 숙제가 많습니다.
   ♣ We have supplementary classes even in the vacation.
       방학 때에도 학교에서 보충 수업이 있습니다.
   ♣ I pitched camp with friends of mine in a mountain.
       지난 방학 때에는 친구들과 산으로 캠핑을 다녀왔습니다.
   ♣ I am spending very busy time for extracurricular activities.
       방학에도 과외공부를 하느라 매우 바쁜 나날을 보내고 있습니다.

7. 시   험
   ♣ We have a regular exam five times in a year.
       일년에 다섯 번의 정기적인 시험을 치릅니다.
   ♣ We take exams once a month.
       한 달에 한번씩 실험을 봅니다.
   ♣ In the lst and 2nd term we have midterm and term-end exams, and we also take        the year-end exams at the end of the second term.
       1학기와 2학기에 중간고사와 학기말 고사를 보고 2학기말에는 학년말 시험도 봅니다.
   ♣ I`m afraid I got a poor record in English in the last examination.
       지난번에 본 영어 시험 성적이 좋지 않을 까 걱정입니다.
   ♣ Our midterm exams. begin tomorrow for a week. So I have been busy preparing        for them.
       중간고사가 내일부터 일주일간 있습니다. 그래서 중간고사 준비로 바쁩니다.
   ♣ I finished the mid-term examination so I can have time to spare for the time being.
       어제 중간고사가 끝났습니다. 그래서 이제 당분간은 시간의 여유가 있습니다.
   ♣ The term examination is going on now so I can`t write a long letter.
       지금 학기말 시험을 보고 있는 중이라 긴 편지를 쓸 수가 없습니다.
   ♣ How many times do you take an examination in a year?
       당신은 일년에 몇 번이나 시험을 봅니까?

8. 교육제도
   ♣ Now I will tell you about the school system in Korea briefly.
       한국의 교육제도에 대해 간단히 말씀드리겠습니다.
   ♣ We go to elementary school for 6 years, middle school for 3 years and high        school for 3 years.
       한국에서는 초등학교 6년 중학교 3년 고등학교 3년을 다닙니다.
   ♣ We go to university for 4 years. We also have junior college for 2 years and we        call this vocational college.
       대학은 4년동안 다닙니다. 2년과 정의 대학도 있으며 우리는 이것을 전문대학이라        합니다.
   ♣ 6 years at elementary school and 3 years at middle school are compulsory.
       초등학교 6년과 중학교 3년은 의무 교육입니다.
   ♣ After graduating middle school, most of the students go to high school. High        school is divided into academic and vocational course.
       중학교를 졸업하면 대부분의 학생들이 고등학교에 진학합니다. 고등학교는 인문계        와 실업계가 있습니다.
