Just a note to let you that I am really enjoying the farm stay in Mexico. I'm eager to talk with you all about what I'm learning. For the most part the problem is vocabulary, but I think I'm getting better at understanding spoken Spanish. When people talk slowly, I can understand almost everything they say. Sometimes I can pick up what they say at normal speed. They seem to understand everything I say, but unfortunately they cannot really explain the grammatical mistakes I make.

Dear Yun-ho,
I can't tell you how wonderful it was to sit in a London theater watching Hamlet, a play by Shakespeare, the greatest of the English-speaking dramatists. The actors are real artists. Every line they speak is perfect;every movement they make is impressive.
Today we visited the Tower of London, an old castle by the Thames. It was originally built as a palace, was later used as a prison, and is now a museum. We had a wonderful time looking at the world's greatest diamonds, which belong to the Royal Family. One of them seemed to be as large as a boy's fist!
We spent the whole afternoon in the British Museum. It houses some of the world's most important collections related to archaeology, art, literature and natural history. There are so many things that you can't appreciate them all in a day.

오늘 우리는 런던 타워를 방문했는데, 이곳은 원래 궁전으로 지어졌고 그 후 감옥으로 쓰이다가 지금은 박물관이지.세계에서 가장 큰 다이아몬드를 보면서 멋진 시간을 보냈단다. 그 중 하나는 소년의 주먹만 하더라.
오후 전체를 대 영 박물관에서 보냈다. 이곳은 인류학,미술, 문학,자연 역사에 관련된 세계의 중요한 소장품들을 보유하고 있어. 너무도 많은 것들이 있어서 하루동안 그 모든 것을 감상할 수가 없어.

I hope all goes well with you.
I found that the history of Korea is very long. How old do you think it is? It is over five thousand years. And Seoul,the capital city, is over six hundred years old. I learned that during the second century A.D., several Korean tribes united and established the Three Kingdom -Koguryo, Paekche and Shilla. In those days, the area we now know as Seoul was under the rule of Peakche.
I also have learned that the Korea culture is deeply based on Buddhism and Confucianism. I am learning a lot about its history by touring.
Since we are off to Kyongju tomorrow, I'll write to you from there.

Hi,it's me again! I hope all has been well.
It's fall and school has begun again. As you know, it's only been two months since I moved to New York. The idea of leaving all my friends was sad for me. I was afraid I would not be able to make new friends.
The school I am attending is a private school. It's different from a public operated by the government. School, to my surprise, has been exciting. The students and the teachers are friendly than I expected. But I have to wear a uniform like you.
I think Seoul and New york are very similar. There are too many people and there's always a traffic jam. People always seem busy. The streets are always crowded with people. But it's the heart of the country! What do you think?
I should stop writing. Take care of yourself and write to me soon! Bye!

가을이고 학기가 다시 시작한다. 너도 알다시피 내가 뉴욕으로 온지 겨우 2달 밖에 되지 않았구나. 내 친구 모두를 떠난다는 생각이 나를 슬프게 했었다. 새로운 친구를 사귀지 못할까봐 두렵기도 했구. 내가 다니는 학교는 사립 학교야. 정부에 의해 운영되는 학교와는 좀 달라. 놀랍게도 학교는 아주 흥미롭다. 학생들과 선생님들이 내가 예상했던 것 보다 친절해.그렇지만 너처럼 교복을 입어야 해.
내 생각엔 서울과 뉴욕은 공통점이 많은 것 같아. 너무나 많은 사람들이 있고 항상 차가 막히지. 사람들은 항상 바쁘게 보이고. 거리는 항상 사람들로 붐빈다. 그렇지만 이곳이 이 나라의 심장부이니까!어떻게 생각해?

Now I'm back home in Chicago. I really appreciate what you did for me during my stay in Korea. I know I owe you a lot for the great Time and fun I had there.
The journey was an invaluable experience for me.
It gave me a chance to know who I am. Frankly, I didn't have much knowledge of Korea except that my parents were born there.

After the tour of Seoul with your help, I concluded that Seoul was a city with a future. I still found many new buildings and roads being built. What will it look like in 10 years, and in another 600 years?
I learned from this trip far more than I had expected. Now I can tell who I am. I am a Korean-American.
