영문자기 소개서란?
영문자기소개서(Cover Letter or Letter of Self-Introduction) 란 영문이력서를 제출할 때 동봉하는
간단한 자기 소개서를 말한다. 한글 자기 소개서를 영어로 쓴 것이라 생각하면 무난할 것이다.
외국인 기업에서 영문이력서를 요구할 때 영문 자기소개서도 함께 제출하면 좋은 이미지를 전달할
수 있을 것이다.
Cover Letter의 작성 목적은 영문이력서와 기타 제출서류에서 소개하지 못한 지원자의 성격,
가치관,성장과정, 지원동기, 특기사항등을 구체적으로 제시하는데 있다. 그러나 무엇보다도 중요한
것은 희망회사의 채용 기준에 부합되는 지원자의 능력, 자질, 지원동기 등을 명확하게 기술해야
한다는 것이다. 작성방법은 구직동기, 희망직종 등을 밝히고 이에 관한 응모자의 자격요건을
간결하게 기술하면 된다. 이때 자세한 것은 영문이력서를 참조하도록 하고, 면접의 가능성을 타진
하는 것이 좋다. 만약 지원자의 경험이 적어 이력서의 내용이 빈약한 경우에는 이력서에 쓰기
어려운 자신의 바램과 활용 능력, 자질 등을 기술하여 이력서를 보충하는 것이 바람직하다.
Cover Letter 작성시에도 국문자기소개서와 마찬가지로 간단, 명료하면서 구체적인 표현방법으로
자신을 소개할 수 있어야 한다. 영어사용에 있어서는 쉽고 명확한 문장을 사용하고, 전체적인 문맥이
자연스럽게 이어지도록 한다. 분량은 1분 안팎에 읽을 수 있도록 하고 A4용지 1장을 넘기지 않도록
한다. 작성할 때는 컴퓨터를 이용해 작성하도록 하고, 오자가 있는 경우에는 수정하기 보다는 다시
작성해야 한다. 제출시에는 절대로 복사한 사본을 제출해서는 안된다는 점도 유의해야 한다.
1. 현주소와 날짜 : 현주소는 번지·동·구·시 그리고 우편번호 순으로 기재하고 날짜는 주소 바로 밑에
월·일·연도의 순서로 적는다.
2. 수취인 : 채용 담당자의 이름을 쓰고, 그 밑에 담당자의 직책, 부서, 회사명, 주소의 순으로 기재
한다. 담당자의 이름을 모르는 경우에는 Personal Manager(인사담당자)로 하면 된다.
3. 본 내용 : 보통 세 단락 정도로 나누어 작성한다.
첫째 단락에는 응모직종과 지원하게 된 경위를 기록한다. 둘째 단락에는 학력, 경력, 특기사항 등
자신의 이력서와 관련지어 인상적인 사항을 기술하며, 열의와 적극성을 표현하도록 한다.
셋째 단락에는 자신의 학력, 경력과 자질이 회사측에서 요구하는 수준에 부합했으면 좋겠다는
바램과 면접기회를 부여했으면 좋겠다고 덧붙이는 것이 좋다.
4. 끝으로 동봉서류에 대해서 간단히 명기하고, 자필서명을 반드시 적도록 한다.

I was born on July 21, 1974, in Taegu, which is the third biggest city in Korea.
I lived there with my parents and one sister.
In 1993, I was graduated from Taegun Senior High School and entered Youngnam
University. I majored in International Economics and Business.
After finishing my freshman course, I enlisted in the army.
In June, 1996, I was discharged from service and placed on the reserve list.
Next year, I returned to my school and continued my study. However
I was a vacation from study because of home problem.
This year I returned again to my school.
I have substantial driving experiences.
Starting from my military services as driving soldier.
My part-time job was driver at tree retail outlet.
I can use personal computer and have earned the second grade as wordprocessing; a certificate of qualification given by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
I sometimes have felt that I lack sociability. So, I have tried to overcome my weakness during my campus life through circle.

My name is Changjoo An. I graduated Pukyung National University this year with a major in English Language and Literature. The undergraduate curriculum included not only the core English classes such as literature, writing, speaking but also the international trade classes and computer courses. In particular, my computer proficiency includes the Internet.
I am a this-year graduate, but I would like to humbly mention the fact that I have substantial working and life experiences. Working for Samsung company which is one of the largest companies in korea, I have learned the importance of immediate adaptation and the importance of becoming a specialist in modern society .
During the period of my life with Canadians, I was fully soaked in the canadian culture and the people and in English that I really wanted to be good at. I made lots of canadian friends who were business men. Anthony was also one of them who was an international trade business man and started a new car-cleaning business. He bought a book about importing and taught me, having gone into partnership with me.
Through the newspaper or the Internet I realize that getting a job in the times of the IMF crises will be rather difficult. I also realize that hiring a this-year graduate is a risky long-term investment which will result in a short-term negative cash flow. Nevertheless, I can respectively suggest that the risk as such will be paid off within a year or less. I was born in a small village named "chechon", where I had lived until I turned three. At the time when the former government, by the late president Park, attempted to develop its economy into more highly advanced economy through both governmental campaigns and collective campaigns from the general public , My family moved down to Ulsan city, one of the fast -developing cities with great possibilities for national development in korea to get a better life like others.
In 1981, Time has come for me to attend elementary school which was located at the tip of southeast of Ulsan. During schooldays, I met a lot of friends in great fun and memory. we at all times got together, playing about here and there. It is the precious time that makes me feel still encouraged to do something I want. I remember that I used to read as many books as I could since My father presented a book to me on my birthdays. yes. I loved reading. Since my desire to study leaned toward the mathematics and physics in the period from middle school to high school, I paid a lot more attention to learning things involved science, instead of being interested in literature . so that I would have taken the lead in getting a ability to clarify things happened in nature.
After entering Gyeong Sang National University, everything seemed to me little different from what I've thought before .because I already lost the way of learning in high school. I didn't keep up with the classes teachers required .in addition, my family was almost broken down.
Nevertheless, I really didn't want to look at the dark side of world . sticking to the belief that " Heaven helps those who can help themselves". I tried to be engrossed in History, as well as in related fields like criticism on society. and by learning various aspects of History, I could have better insight about current society than before . over the time, I became proud of myself doing what I like.
In fact, with the self-awareness to world, I have been spending most of my life in University studying English to further understand what society is about . In my eyes, In this time of globalization, There is little doubt that unless we have a opportunity to learn English , international language before graduation from University, It would not be easy for us to communicate with people living in different countries.
In late 1994, I joined the army. to be honest, that time was the hardest for me in past years. but I successfully finished my duty in early 1997.
Now time to mention myself , briefly I think I am rather out-going and aggressive in doing something I love. sometimes, I become little romantic when I listen to favorite musics. yes, I love listening . so have a good collection of Rock music.
For my hobby, I also like to play soccer with friends. whenever I have some time to kill,
As for favorite subjects, there are approximately three subjects, such as History, Sociology, Education. As I was educated, History as such was too often neglected by the former administrations . So I , from my point of view, regard History as a academic learning that is worth being highlighted especially for now. and I believed Sociology and Education should be based on History in that History has its ups and downs that embody ideas and values regarding Human itself.
As far as my daily life is concerned, every morning I browse daily information on internet by surfing commonly known newspapers in and out of the nation.
and I spend most of the day in the reading room of Humanities building.
At night, I tend to read books related western thoughts and history. among them, the most interesting was " Odyssey" written by Homer, the greatest historian in Ancient Greece. as a student studying History at University, I really enjoy reading history books.
