35. prevent ∼ from + 동명사
It is no use + 동명사(=it is no good + 동명사) =it is of no use to 부정사
=it is useless to 부정사
The heavy rain prevented me from going to the party.
(폭우 때문에 나는 파티에 가지 못했다.)
A dense fog prevented our plane from landing at the airport.
It is no use crying over spilt milk.
It is no good arguing with him about the matter.
It was no use my pretending to know nothing about the accident.
The noise kept me from sleeping last night.
